What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy refers to the practitioner’s focus on the spinal column, the bones of the head or cranium, and the broad ending structure of the spine, the sacrum. ( Arnold, Rhythm and Touch, The Fundamentals of Craniosacral Therapy, 2009). The practitioner uses a series of subtle holds to help balance the craniosacral rhythm.  This rhythm is the process of absorption and production of cerebrospinal fluid and can be an indicator of the condition of soft tissue and joints throughout the body.  Craniosacral Therapy can be effective in treating headaches, whiplash, sacroiliac dysfunction, generalized neck and back pain.
